Citizens of Philipstown

We recognize that the governance of our town requires the involvement of each one of us. Our involvement is the only way that essential balance and fairness can be insured for all citizens, we are a vehicle to insure that all views are heard and represented.

While most of us were busy carrying out the normal duties of our daily lives, living, working, volunteering , and contributing to the overall well being of our families and the town, some may interpret the silence of the large majority of the citizenry, as an implicit endorsement to agendas of sweeping changes in the character of Philipstown, in our manner of living, and the way our children may live in this town. If the silence of this large majority gave the impression that we are satisfied with a single voice speaking for the future of our community, this is a notice that such understanding of our silence was incorrect.

We decided to organize, to add our say to those who believe that Philipstown should be a place where all its citizens can be heard, and effectively participate in the governing process of the town, this is the basis of democracy, no one group can influence the true destiny of a community.

We are committed to complete this assignment, finish the fight, so our children and our children's children can celebrate and enjoy Philipstown a home for all for years to come, the poor and rich, the young and the old.

"In democracy agreement is not essential
but  participation is."

Walter Cronkite
